I have had pretty awful experiences with dentists in the past and am so relieved that I have finally found a dentist (Marc) and hygienist (Kim) that I feel totally at ease with. They are both professional but also really reassuring and friendly. The surgery is cosy but modern - I can't fault the experience but wish the prices were a little lower!
Marc is a brilliant dentist and has been looking after my teeth for years now. He’s friendly, professional, explains everything clearly, puts no pressure on to have any work done (if asking about cosmetic work, for example), gives great advice and his work is incredibly skillfull – fillings are pain free, matched to the colour of your teeth and are, therefore, invisible.
Even though I saw an NHS dentist every six months, when I first went to The Smile Centre I'd had toothache for years, I had seven fillings that needed replacing and really awful looking, uneven, discoloured teeth. Marc replaced a total of 11 fillings for me in a matching colour and whitened my teeth; he also saved a big molar that was so decayed it looked like it might need root treatment and a crown. My front four teeth were in a terrible state and all needed fillings redone. Marc’s cosmetic dentistry work was fantastic and I couldn’t have hoped for better results. Yes, all this work was expensive, but the results were worth it: my teeth are even in shape and colour, my mouth is healthy, I have no pain and I’m not embarrassed to smile any more.
Since going to The Smile Centre and having all the initial work done (about 4 years ago now) I’ve not had any problems with my teeth. The receptionists are friendly and efficient, the premises is attractive and the dentists’ rooms are modern and super well equipped, all the hygienists are excellent and I couldn’t recommend Marc more highly. My husband, who is practically dentist phobic and can become quite aggressive when he has to have a check-up or any treatment because he so doesn’t want to be there (!) also sees Marc and Marc deals with him with amazing good grace and professionalism.
Whether you just want regular check-ups, need a lot of work doing, are considering cosmetic dentistry or are even very anxious/phobic about seeing a dentist I would recommend The Smile Centre - and Marc - 100%.
I went to 8 different dentists around the Canterbury area to have a consultation for a front tooth implant and walked out unconvinced or satisfied. I have done my research on implant and tooth replace/repair and know how big a choice this is.
Then I was recommended The Smile Centre by my denture maker in Roper Rd, I had a consultation with Marc who was great. He was friendly, very knowledge-able and listened to my concerns. He was sympathetic, did not pressure me into any procedure and explained everything simply. I had to have some bone grafting done before the implant can be done. This was fairly pain free and great after care by all staff.
Final step soon is the actual tooth going and cannot be happier. NHS maybe cheaper but TSC are worth the slight extra cost. Everything about service has been worth every penny and will continue to use them in the future.
Kim is an exceptional hygienist. Straight talking and honest but also passionate and personable. She always has her patient's interest at heart and has offered some helpful tips and constructive advice. I wish her all the best of luck in winning this award!
I have just been to The Smile Centre in Canterbury and, as always, had first class treatment. Apart from Ashley’s consummate skill as a dentist, what really resonates me with is that the patient’s needs are paramount and everything is geared towards making the experience as easy and painless (yes in all senses of the word!) as possible. The receptionists are friendly and efficient and Kim, the dental hygienist, stands out – she is a superstar. She is friendly, relaxed, caring and very competent, yet firm when pointing out my lack of regular flossing. She has a knack of remembering not only the patient in the chair, but their family too, recalling what was talked about on the last visit and what family members are up to. The level of her innate rapport building skill is exceptional and she is a real asset to the Smile Centre. I hope she is there to stay.
